my pedestrian despair

I’m drowning in my fear
it’s not that intricate

keeping busy with all my goals
feeling proud about my different roles
paying my bills with their torment
when I should foster malcontent

beware your claims

what you profess
is fear of the few
become aware
of your prejudice

choking the earth
with what we consume
our desires are shaping our tomb
hounded by the state
crippled by corporate constraint
anxiety grows everyday
fighting to find a way
awaken to the desperate need
take action against misdeeds
power seems out of sight
but resistance is key, not contrite
